Inter Island Ferry

A SALARY dispute involving the crew of the inter-island ferry T&T Express left passengers booked for the 6.30 am sailing stranded at the Scarbor-ough Port for several hours yesterday.

By the time the vessel finally sailed at 11 am, less than half the passengers were on board — several of them had rushed to Crown Point Airport in a desperate bid to get stand-by seats on Tobago Express flights.

Boarding passes had already been issued and torn for the 6.30 am sailing when port management announced that the departure had been delayed until 8 am.

A short while later, passengers were reportedly told that the sailing had been cancelled.

It was later revealed that the crew had taken strike action to protest non-payment of their salaries. After hearing that the sailing had been cancelled, several passengers left the port and headed for the airport or their homes.

However, at about 9 am port officials told those who had remained that the vessel would depart at 11 am. A Port Authority source told Sunday Newsday that a top official had directed the captain and his crew to commence sailing.

Only, only in focking Trinidad!

Only Only under the fockin PNM!

Lord, save meh from these Goons.
